In Corsica, after the funeral of Yvan Colonna in Cargèse on Friday March 25, how will the situation evolve?

The death of the assassin of the prefect Erignac on March 21 had put an end to the demonstrations and the violence which shook the island since his attack in prison at the beginning of the month, where he was serving his life sentence.

In parallel, a process of negotiations was opened between the French State and the nationalist leaders of the region to discuss a possible autonomy for Corsica.

But on the spot, it is the uncertainty which dominates.

On the café terraces surrounding the Ajaccio market, the name of Yvan Colonna is on everyone's lips.

But on an island where everyone knows everyone, it is off the microphone that the elders will tell you about their concerns about the evolution of the situation.

Especially since it only takes a few things to ignite it.

Today, only pallets are burning in front of the prefecture.

The consequence of a video that circulated on social networks, where we are supposed to hear CRS singing the Marseillaise in their barracks in Furiani, at the time of the funeral of Yvan Colonna.

An insult to his memory for the few dozen people who made the trip.

One more scandal… one too many scandals?

We demand, without delay, explanations on the attitude of these CRS who feast when Corsica buries Yvan Colonna.

It is all the same under cover of a profound ignorance of the subject that certain things which are currently on the table are either insufficient or incoherent

”, he declares at the microphone of RFI.

We can only identify a failure of democracy and of this dialogue with the French state.

It is because of this that the fact of the street has advanced the discussions, or put them back on the table

” he adds.

For those who sat down at the negotiating table, like the president of the Corsican executive Gilles Simeoni, that's already a lot.

Will the gesture be enough?

The future will tell.
