Liv Ullmann has a long and successful career behind her and is associated in the US perhaps mainly for her roles in Ingmar Bergman's films, but she has also been on stage on Broadway several times since her debut in 1975.

Among the many international prizes and awards she has previously been awarded is a 1973 Golden Globe for Jan Troell's "The Emigrants".

For the role of Kristina in the said film, she was also nominated for an Oscar in the category of best female actress.

She was also nominated in the same category for her role in Bergman's "Face to Face" in 1977.
