The Ministry of Ecological Transition announced on Friday a discount at the pump which now amounts to 18 cents instead of 15 cents.

A difference which is explained by the amount of VAT applied in the various French territories.

For Yves Carra, spokesperson for the Automobile Club, this measure remains insufficient.

This is one of the hot topics of the moment: the price of fuel is skyrocketing in France.

The Ministry of Ecological Transition has announced a discount at the pump which now amounts to 18 cents instead of 15 cents for consumers in mainland France.

For the unions, this is far from sufficient.

"What's crazy is that those who did the calculations at Bercy had forgotten the taxes," lamented Yves Carra, spokesman for the Automobile Club.

This effort is still insufficient.” The union further emphasizes: “It is still exceptional.

They tend not to forget them when you have to pay them, but they tend to forget them when you have to pay them back."

"There is an effort to be made"

For Yves Carra, the measure may not be applied in all service stations.

"In these difficult times, it's always that," he said.

"We're not going to be choosy. It's still 18 cents per liter and it's not negligible. We still have to find the right service station from April 1."

And to conclude: "The root of the problem remains the same and will certainly remain the same for years, in any case in the months to come. When you have 60 taxes on a liter of fuel, there is an effort to be made ."
