To support the EU = European Union, which seeks to break away from Russia's dependence on energy, the U.S. government will work with other producing countries to supply 15 billion cubic meters of LNG = liquefied natural gas by the end of the year. I made it clear.

US President Joe Biden and EU President Ursula von der Leyen, who are visiting Europe, issued a joint statement on the 25th.

According to the report, the US government is aiming to supply 15 billion cubic meters of LNG by the end of the year in cooperation with other producing countries in order to support the EU aiming to break away from Russia's dependence on energy.

After that, the EU side plans to build a stable supply-demand relationship by purchasing about 50 billion cubic meters a year from the United States until at least 2030.

The EU raised 155 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Russia last year and wants to replace one-third with LNG from the United States in the future.

"It's not easy to stop importing gas from Russia, but it's not only morally correct, but also strategically important," said President Biden, who issued a joint statement.

"We need to provide a stable supply of energy not only next year but also in the future. This is a big step toward that," emphasized the significance of Chairman Von der Leyen.
