The Presidential Transition Committee said that the Board of Audit and Inspection expressed concern over the request to appoint a new auditor at the end of President Moon Jae-in's term.

According to a press release from the Transition Committee’s Political Affairs and Judicial Administration Division, the Board of Audit and Inspection said, “Considering the high degree of political neutrality that audit committee members must maintain, in principle, in situations where there may be controversy or doubts related to political neutrality, such as at the present time, it is appropriate to exercise the right of recommendation. It is questionable,” he said.

He added, "It is appropriate to exercise the right to make a proposal when the current government and the new government are negotiated, based on past precedents."

Audit committee members are to be appointed by the President at the request of the Chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection.

In the business report, the transition committee members emphasized that "the proposal for the appointment of the government audit committee member Yang-gi Lee should not become a factor that undermines the objectivity and fairness of the audit committee operation."

In particular, the Board of Audit and Inspection ordered the restoration of audit credibility by refraining from repeated or political audits.
