When Frida gave birth to her daughter in 2018, she received a third-degree birth injury.

She burst through the vagina into the rectal muscles.

If sewn correctly, the rupture should not cause any problems or problems afterwards.

But unfortunately, muscles that were simply off in her pelvic floor were missed.

She repeatedly sought help, but gynecologist after gynecologist missed the injuries:

- When it was at its worst six months after the birth, I had suicidal thoughts, says Frida Trönnberg.

What she happened to was that Frida changed careers and today helps women who have abdominal pain.

Can having a caesarean section lead to more injuries?

Statistics compiled by SVT's Assignment Review show that Östergötland is one of the regions with the largest proportion of severe ruptures during childbirth.

Frida Trönnberg believes that this may to some extent be due to the fact that people in Östergötland are, after all, good at detecting stretch marks, but she also believes that one reason may be that Östergötland has for many years strived for as few people as possible to choose a caesarean section when they will give birth:

- Here in the Region for Midwives, show how proud you are of the few caesarean sections.

Of course, the risks of cesarean section should be highlighted, but it is also extremely important to show the risks of vaginal delivery.

If there is a risk of a major birth injury, you should find out about it.

The National Board of Health and Welfare's latest figures show that between 2016 and 2020, an average of 12 percent of births in Östergötland were performed by caesarean section.

It is the smallest proportion in the country.

On Gotland and in Stockholm, more than 20 percent of births are performed by caesarean section.

Hear in the clip below how the person in charge of the birth in Linköping reacts to Frida Trönnberg's thoughts about the connection between a few caesareans and many stretch marks:
