Tekniska verken i Kiruna AB owns Kiruna kraft, which operates the energy production and distribution facilities.
Now the municipal management wants to sell Kiruna power to Polhem infra, which is owned by the AP funds.
The idea is that Polhem infra will own 80 percent and Kiruna municipality 20 percent of the new company.
According to the municipality, the deal - after deducting debts and various costs - would yield a profit of approximately SEK 700 million.
- We will do something good for all Kiruna residents, we will create an attractive city for the money, says Gunnar Selberg (C) municipal councilor in Kiruna.
Want to establish higher education
The idea is that the money will be invested in future projects to strengthen the city's conditions.
- We get a strong financier who can create an energy center in Kiruna.
We want to bring higher education and research here, such as collaborations with Luleå University of Technology.
Decisions on sales are made in the municipal board in early May and in the municipal council in June.
In the clip, Gunnar Selberg gives examples of what the money should be used for.
