China News Service, Beijing, March 25 (Reporter Guo Chaokai Li Jingze) Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin hosted a regular press conference on March 25.

A reporter asked: On the 24th, the NATO summit issued a joint statement calling on all countries, including China, to maintain the international order, including the principles of safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity in the UN Charter, to refrain from any support for Russia's war behavior and to help Russia evade sanctions.

What is China's comment?

Wang Wenbin: On the Ukraine issue, China has always proceeded from the right and wrong of the matter itself, and worked hard to ease the situation, resolve the crisis and rebuild peace.

We have always maintained that peace is the most precious thing.

The top priority is to cease fire and stop the war, and dialogue and negotiation are the most realistic and feasible way.

The international community should encourage Russia and Ukraine to continue talks rather than fight.

Continuing and escalating the conflict will only cause more casualties, which is not in the interests of any party.

The escalating sanctions will only benefit a few people, and the common people will suffer.

We have always maintained that security is indivisible.

Engaging in group confrontation and seeking absolute security will lead to the most insecure consequences.

Ukraine should be a bridge between the East and the West, not the frontier of the game of great powers.

European countries should strive to build a balanced, effective and sustainable regional security architecture, rather than redefine the line of confrontation between the East and the West.

Instead of fighting a new Cold War, the United States and NATO should engage in dialogue with Russia.

We have always maintained that there should be no double standards in handling international relations.

Ukraine's sovereignty and security should be maintained, and Russia's legitimate security concerns should also be respected.

The peace and stability of Europe is worth defending, and the peace and stability of other countries are also worth protecting.

One cannot claim to be against war, and at the same time wage war everywhere; while claiming to maintain peace, at the same time wantonly destroy peace.

China is playing a constructive role on the Ukraine issue. We are upholding justice, seeking peace and focusing on the long-term.

We support dialogue and negotiation, actively provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and other affected countries, and are willing to work with the international community to push for a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis as soon as possible.

We call on all parties concerned to remain calm and restrained, demonstrate political will, let reason prevail over emotions, let vision prevail over shortsightedness, let common interests prevail over individual selfish interests, cease fire and end war at an early date, avoid civilian casualties, prevent a larger humanitarian crisis, and work together for Europe and the long-term peace of the world.

China's position is consistent with the wishes of most countries.

We oppose groundless accusations and suspicions against China, let alone any pressure or coercion.

Time will prove that China's claim is on the right side of history.
