In light of the reduction in the adult age from next month, Minister of Justice Furukawa has announced a policy to introduce a new correctional education program for people aged 18 and 19 who are in the juvenile training school.

The 18-year-olds and 19-year-olds, who will be new adults from next month, will be treated as "specified juveniles" under the revised Juvenile Law and will be treated more severely.

Based on this, Minister of Justice Furukawa will target 18-year-old and 19-year-olds who are in the juvenile training school at a press conference after the cabinet meeting to encourage them to think about their awareness and responsibilities as adults while encouraging reflection on crime and misconduct. We have shown a policy to introduce a new correctional education program.

In addition, according to the Ministry of Justice, in order to broaden the range of occupational choices for those who are admitted to the juvenile training school from next month, we will introduce ICT technology courses where you can learn programming and courses where you can experience a series of experiences such as product planning and sales. It means reorganizing vocational training subjects.

On the other hand, if a "specific juvenile" violates special matters that must be observed during probation, a mechanism will be set up to be detained in the juvenile training school according to the decision of the family court.

Minister Furukawa said, "We would like to support the improvement, rehabilitation, and rehabilitation of young people who have sinned in response to the needs of the times."
