China News Service, Beijing, March 24. On March 23, local time, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Niger Foreign Minister Hassoumi in Islamabad on the sidelines of the Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

  Wang Yi said that China and Nepal enjoy solid mutual trust and friendship, and have always firmly supported each other on issues concerning each other's core interests.

The economic and trade cooperation between the two sides has been continuously deepened, and key projects have been progressing smoothly. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Nepalese side to promote the implementation of the outcomes of the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Nepal, so as to better benefit the Nepalese people.

  Wang Yi expressed that the Chinese side appreciates the contribution made by the Nepali side during its tenure as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, and is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Nepali side in multilateral affairs, jointly oppose hegemonism, safeguard international fairness and justice, and safeguard the common interests of the two countries and developing countries.

It is expected that the Nepalese side will support global development initiatives, build broad international consensus, and accelerate the promotion of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

  Hasumi said that the global development initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping is far-sighted, and the Nepali side firmly supports it.

China always lends a helping hand when Niger encounters difficulties.

China was the first to respond to Nepal's request for anti-epidemic assistance, and the first batch of vaccines arriving in Nepal also came from China, which the Nigerian side will bear in mind.

China has become an important economic and trade partner of Nepal. The Nepali side is willing to deepen the friendship between Nepal and China, and looks forward to receiving more support from the Chinese side in accelerating economic development and enhancing international competitiveness.

  Hasumi introduced the security situation in the Sahel region, and expressed his hope to strengthen the regional security cooperation mechanism and enhance the security capability of Nepal.

Wang Yi expressed that China supports the national security capacity building in the Sahel region.

Development is the foundation of security, and China is willing to continue to provide assistance within its capacity to countries in the Sahel region to accelerate development and improve people's livelihood. Through strengthening South-South cooperation, it will mobilize more resources and form stronger synergy to support African countries in achieving common development.
