On Sunday evening, an eight-year-old boy was taken by ambulance to hospital with serious injuries.
The boy's mother was arrested and has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
On Wednesday, the health service announced that the boy's injury condition had improved.
- I can state that this child has been very lucky based on the injury picture he has, said prosecutor Linnea Hedström.
Both the woman and the child on whom she is suspected of attempted murder have been active in a sports association.
- Everyone is very shocked, says a man in the association.
Training continues as usual
The association has activated a crisis team to decide how to handle the incident.
- We learned this yesterday and are in the middle of how to handle this.
We have been in contact with the boy's school and a POSOM group, among other things.
We offer our leaders and children support, he says.
The association has been advised to continue with the activities and training as usual.
- It is important to offer that environment to meet and continue with the training as usual.
We hope that the boy will be well and our thoughts are with the family.
The municipality supports students
At the school where the child goes, the student health team will strengthen its efforts to catch students who are in need of support and conversation.
- It is primarily about being there to catch students who have questions and offer conversations to those who want, writes Christopher Granberg, deputy director of education elementary school, in an email.
Neither the woman nor the child has been heard
The suspect woman was arrested on Wednesday and is admitted to forensic psychiatry.
She has neither denied nor admitted any crime.
Neither she nor the child has been heard by the police.
- We have no scheduled interrogations with either the victim or the perpetrator this week, but it may not be relevant until next week, says David Helgesson, head of the police department for serious crimes.
