The Court of Appeal states in its judgment that the attack was characterized by great brutality and that Elin Klintberg had limited opportunities to escape or defend herself.

The violent violence caused her serious, extensive and fatal injuries.

The course of events has been rapid but it is unclear when she lost consciousness.

- However, there is no doubt that she must have felt severe pain and experienced strong death anxiety during at least part of the course of events, says the court's chairman, Court of Appeal lawyer Anna Graninger, in a press release on Thursday.

The Court of Appeal believes that the circumstances are so aggravating that the prison sentence can not stop at the 16 years that the district court sentenced, but sharpens the sentence to 18 years in prison.

"No explanation"

Elin Klintberg was murdered by repeated blows with a hammer after a quarrel flared up with the 27-year-old in his motorhome.

After the murder, he buried her near the camper.

Prosecutor Mathias Larsson has pressed that she was subjected to extremely serious violence with a hammer, when she was sitting in a cramped space with the 27-year-old standing in front of her, without the opportunity to defend herself or get out.

The action was particularly ruthless, the prosecutor believes, and it meant severe suffering for Elin Klintberg.

After the act, the man has not been able to explain why he gave in to Elin Klintberg and he has afterwards said that he deeply regrets what he did.

- He has no explanation for it, he does not understand it himself, his defense lawyer Maria Grosskopf has previously told TT.

In the district court, the man denied murder but admitted aggravated assault and aggravated causing another person's death.
