Former minister Jean-Louis Borloo announced this Thursday in an interview with "Figaro" to support the president-candidate for the presidential election two weeks before the first round.

He had already supported Emmanuel Macron in 2017. At the time, the former deputy-mayor had notably declared that the candidate LREM was the "only catalyst for the choice of the future".

The former deputy mayor of Valenciennes and former Minister of State has decided to join the candidate LREM, candidate for his own succession.

The first round of the presidential election will be held on Sunday 10 April.

Among Macron's supporters, Martine Vassal, the LR president of the departmental council of Bouches-du-Rhône and the metropolis of Aix-Marseille, the former Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, or even Manuel Valls, ex-member of the Socialist Party and former Prime Minister.

Guillaume Larrivé announced that he would slip a ballot for LR candidate Valérie Pécresse on April 10 but intend to support Emmanuel Macron if his candidate is eliminated in the second round and the President qualified.

Note that Jean-Louis Borloo had already supported Emmanuel Macron in 2017. At the time, he declared that the LREM candidate was the "only catalyst for the choice of the future".

"I have thought long and hard and I am betting on Emmanuel Macron," announced the former president of the Union of Democrats and Independents.

As a reminder, Jean-Louis Borloo was Minister of Economy and Finance under the Fillon government in 2007 and Spokesman of the UDF from 2001 to 2002.
