Settlers burned parts of a mosque in a village south of Nablus, wrote racist slogans on its walls, and damaged vehicles in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of the occupied Holy City.

The Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) stated that settlers infiltrated the village of Zita Jama'in in the north of the occupied West Bank, and threw a highly flammable substance at the entrance to the "Ibad al-Rahman" mosque, causing damage to its carpet.

She added that the settlers wrote racist anti-Palestinian and anti-Arab slogans on the walls of a house near the mosque, threatening the Arabs with revenge.

For his part, the Palestinian Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, Hatem Al-Bakri, condemned the burning of parts of the mosque.

And he said in a statement, a copy of which was received by Anadolu Agency, that the occupation’s attacks have recently escalated from the demolition and burning of places of worship, which portends dire consequences, as it comes within a racist series that shows the extent of the Zionist occupation’s disregard for the sanctities and the lives of our people.

Al-Bakri called on international institutions concerned with peace and human rights, foremost of which are the United Nations and UNESCO, to follow up on the settlers’ crimes against Islamic sanctities, and to prevent their continued occurrence.

According to data from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, settlers have carried out 107 attacks against Palestinians and their property in the West Bank since the beginning of the year until March 7.

About 650,000 Israelis live in more than 130 settlements that have been built since 1967, when the West Bank and East Jerusalem were occupied.

In this context, video clips and photos circulated by Palestinian platforms documented that settlers damaged the tires of more than 20 vehicles in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem.

Muhammad al-Kiswani, a spokesman for the neighborhood's residents, told "Wafa" that these attacks were repeated more than once against the residents, without the occupation police moving a finger, but rather providing protection for the assailants.

A video clip also documented a number of settlers violently assaulting Palestinian properties and vehicles, yesterday, Wednesday, in the village of Michmas, northeast of occupied Jerusalem, as well as the attack on the village's mosque and clinic.
