Everything you need to know to light a charcoal barbecue

Lighting a barbecue can be daunting and you've probably been to many barbecue parties or "it doesn't take".

However, we like the smoke of the traditional barbecue, and it is not so complicated to light a barbecue.

To go to the simplest, you can use fire starter blocks.

The first step is to place the charcoal on the grill and open the ventilation to the maximum.

Then place firelighter blocks between the charcoal blocks (or briquettes if you use the latter instead.

We move on to the actual ignition of the firelighters.

You have to wait for the flames to come out, then you can try to group the pieces of coal as close as possible to the flames.

Use pliers for this.

Wait between 15 and 20 minutes and your fire should be ready to welcome the first grills.

When to add charcoal during a barbecue?

Another classic question for a barbecue evening: "Do you have to add more coal?"

".

And the answer is more complicated than it seems, because it is strongly advised not to add charcoal during cooking.

If it is really necessary to revive the barbecue, all food must first be removed from the barbecue.

We can then put the coal back, give it time to burn a little, and only once this step is completed, we can then put the food back on the barbecue.
