The IEA (International Energy Agency) held a ministerial board meeting in Paris, France, and agreed to reduce reliance on Russian energy and accelerate the transition to clean energy in order to strengthen energy security.

Energy consuming countries such as Japan, Europe and the United States participated in the IEA's ministerial board meeting, and exchanged opinions over two days until the 24th on measures to deal with the soaring energy prices caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

In response to this statement, the participating countries reaffirmed the importance of energy security and agreed to further cooperate to diversify energy sources and strengthen supply.

US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, who chaired the meeting, emphasized at a press conference that "we agreed to condemn Putin's war, increase the supply of energy and accelerate the transition to clean energy."

IEA Secretary-General Virol also said that all participating countries would show concrete measures on how to reduce Russia's dependence on energy. And our goal is to radically reduce natural gas. "

On the other hand, President Vladimir Putin said that when Japan, Europe and the United States buy natural gas from Russia, they will only accept payment in the currency ruble. "It was a concern."

Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hagita "Each country was able to share measures"

At a press conference, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hagiuda, who participated in the IEA Ministerial Council from Japan, said, "It is possible to deepen discussions not only on market stability in light of the situation in Ukraine, but also on promoting energy security and decarbonization over the medium to long term.
