Just over 4,200 people were vaccinated against covid-19 last week.

Many of them took their third or fourth dose.

Despite the fact that Region Sörmland hoped that the national vaccination week would attract more unvaccinated people, they are still satisfied with the result.

- At Tuna Park in Eskilstuna, for example, some people said "I did not intend to take the third dose, but when you are still here, it's okay."

So we have reached people who would not be vaccinated and that is very good, says Signar Mäkitalo, infection control doctor at Region Sörmland.

"The virus remains"

Among other things, more drop-in times were offered at the health centers and other places around Sörmland.

But according to the latest estimate, only 34 people took their first dose during the national vaccination week.

At the same time, 349 new cases of covid-19 were found in Sörmland last week.

- The virus remains and we see a spread of infection that does not go down as fast as the Public Health Agency had imagined, says Signar Mäkitalo.
