Thursday marked a cavalcade of summits for Western world leaders, when the G7 as well as NATO and the EU met.

Following the inaugural NATO summit, the President of the United States held a press conference.

- NATO has never been more united.

Putin had to do the exact opposite of what he wanted, Biden said at the press conference.

He then reported on some information that the United States had given during the day: that new sanctions would be imposed on Russia and that the United States promises to receive up to 100,000 Ukrainian refugees.

Weapon deliveries continue

He also emphasized that US arms shipments to Ukraine were continuing.

- Our weapons are flowing into Ukraine right now.

At the same time as Biden was speaking to the press, Russia criticized the Western countries' arms support for Ukraine.

It prolongs and exacerbates the conflict in Ukraine, Russia's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Floating about chemical attack and sanctions

Joe Biden was also asked if he has any evidence that Putin will use chemical weapons in Ukraine, but did not want to give an answer.

The United States has repeatedly claimed in recent days that Russia plans to use such weapons.

Biden also did not want to answer whether such an attack would lead to a military response from the United States or NATO.

He was also asked about sanctions and whether he thinks it will change the Kremlin.

The answer is no, according to Biden.

- Sanctions never deter, said Biden, who believes that the important thing about the sanctions is, among other things, "unity".
