The fishing boat called "Sainte-Anne II" was ravaged by flames overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday in the bay of Douarnenez (Finistère).

It sank in the early morning after the fire reached the deck, located at its waterline.

The gillnet wreck is located southeast of Cap de la Chèvre at a depth of 30 m, specifies

The sinking caused no casualties.

Two survivors

A ship arrived on site before the rescuers allowed the two sailors on board, aged 22 and 25, to leave the building.

They were then picked up by firefighters and taken to hospital for examinations.

The eldest suffers from leg injuries.

The Maritime Prefecture of the Atlantic controls the area of the shipwreck to detect possible pollution.

“When the fire starts in a small boat like that, where everything is plastic, you can't do anything.

They come back from afar,” commented the former manager of “Sainte-Anne II” about the survivors.
