This came during the council’s meeting yesterday, at the women’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, where the Council adopted a package of decisions. in various strategic sectors.

The directive to establish the Foundation comes as an embodiment of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to strengthen Dubai’s position as one of the most important main hubs of the global economy, especially in the field of trade and business, which is a mainstay for the growth of Dubai’s economy. It depends directly on competition, fair trade and the protection of consumers' rights, and is mainly based on creating an exceptional experience for them.

The Executive Council approved the institution’s objectives, which will focus on reducing practices harmful to competition, educating commercial establishments about their rights and duties, ensuring the strengthening of self-censorship in institutions, and the commitment of commercial establishments to the laws of doing business by developing supervisory cadres, direct field communication with business owners, and reviewing and developing consumer protection policies. and protecting intellectual property rights to enhance the business environment and develop the shopping experience in the emirate to keep pace with the aspirations of the local and global community.

The Executive Council also approved the policy to reduce abuse and treat addiction in Dubai, which is based on evaluating the treatment and rehabilitation system from addiction, monitoring performance indicators from recovery rates among individuals, and intensifying preventive awareness programs, in partnership with the competent authorities, in accordance with the responsibilities and roles of the authorities, to ensure the protection of Society in all its categories.

The Emirate of Dubai adopts a policy of community prevention, providing the ingredients and capabilities to reduce addiction and its effects in various health, social and economic aspects, in addition to supporting the recovering and integrating them into society, through integrated programs and policies that train and empower them within an environment suitable for them.
