Mariupol, a city in southern Ukraine, is being destroyed by heavy bombardment by Russian troops.

Ukraine is fighting desperately despite Russia's ultimatum to surrender, and there is a possibility that Belarus will join the war to help Russia.

Mariupol, a port city in southern Ukraine that has been subjected to indiscriminate airstrikes by Russian troops since the beginning of the war.



At least 2,500 civilians were killed in the massive bombing and most of the infrastructure was destroyed.



Citizens have been isolated for three weeks without water, food and electricity.



President Zelensky said Russia's indiscriminate airstrikes had turned Mariupol into a barren ruin.

Russian forces launched airstrikes on Odessa, another port city in the south, and fired flash grenades to disperse protesters in the already occupied Kherson.



Fierce fighting continues as Ukrainian forces recapture the key town of Makario on the outskirts of the capital Kiiu.



Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has warned that the Russian military may use chemical and biological weapons, saying Putin is at a corner.



There are even concerns that the war could escalate as Belarus may soon join the war to help Russia.



The UN says at least 953 civilian deaths, including 78 children, have been officially confirmed since the invasion of Russia, and the number of refugees who have fled Ukraine is approaching 3.6 million.
