The incident occurred in Motala on March 6 earlier this year.
Shortly after midnight, a fire broke out in a villa in Motala and the police arrested a 70-year-old man suspected of the incident early.
The man is now being prosecuted at Linköping District Court.
According to the indictment, the man allegedly set fire to bedding that was hung in the living room with a lighter.
The home belonged to the 70-year-old and his partner.
He is suspected of aggravated arson.
The prosecutor believes that the crime should be assessed as serious because it took place in a densely populated residential area with a high risk of spreading.
During questioning, the suspect denies the crime.
