Umeå municipality out early with new IT security: "We are happy about that today"

In December, Kalix municipality was paralyzed by a hacker attack.

Computers were locked and the municipality was forced to work analogously.

Umeå municipality has seen similar, smaller, attempts and believes that the risk picture for IT attacks from, above all, organized crime has been high for many years.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine has made the situation more tense.

- It is definitely an increased risk picture.

Physical keys

Unlike Kalix, Umeå municipality has significantly increased its IT security.

A year ago, Umeå was one of the first municipalities to exchange passwords for physical "keys" - something that Petter Lindgren believes will become more common.
