- I woke up early yesterday and read the news and thought that "No, now we must act quickly now", says Jenny Wennesund, special teacher and union representative for the National Union of Teachers at Jenny Nyströmskolan in Kalmar.

"Must know what to do"

She immediately emailed both the chief safety representative within Kalmarsunds Gymnasieförbund and the management of her own school with demands that school staff in Kalmar start practicing on school attacks, for example how an "accommodation" is done when students and staff must be protected in classrooms.

Something that has never been done before.

- We have had some courses, but we have not practiced practically.

And you have to do that.

It's just like a fire alarm, you can not sit still in your study with a document in front of you and read it, but you have to know what to do, so it is in the spinal cord when it happens, says Jenny Wennesund.

Minute of silence

On Wednesday, she and many other teachers around the country held a minute of silence for the two female teachers who were murdered at a high school in Malmö by an 18-year-old student.

The incident, which is the third violent attack on teachers or school staff in a short time, has affected many.

- It feels terrible, sad.

I even have members who know who these teachers are who were murdered in this brutal way.

Of course we know them.

Jenny Nyströmskolan's crisis group raises the issue of practical exercises before school acts at its meeting already on Wednesday.

The National Association of Teachers' chief safety representative will also raise the issue with Kalmarsund's upper secondary school association.

SVT has sought representatives of Kalmarsund's upper secondary school association for a comment during the day, but without success.
