A World War II bomb was found during excavation work on a construction site on Frankfurt's Kleyerstrasse on Wednesday.

According to the police, the approximately 50-kilogram dud must be defused on Thursday, March 24th.

To do this, around 700 residents have to vacate their apartments by 12 noon.

A kindergarten, some commercial enterprises and local and long-distance public transport will also be affected by the clearance.

The transport company and Deutsche Bahn will inform you in good time about cancellations or changes to the timetable.

The Frankfurt Fire Department has created an interactive map with a search function where anyone living or working in the restricted area can check whether they are affected by the evacuation.

In addition, there should be a list of affected streets and house numbers on the fire department's website in a timely manner, the police said.

The fire brigade coordinates the transport assistance for people with restricted mobility who live in the evacuation area.

Anyone who needs help should definitely call the citizen hotline from 6.30 a.m. on Thursday on: 069 / 212 111. Accommodation is currently being created for people affected by Corona who are currently in isolation.

Affected people who have problems finding accommodation elsewhere will be set up in the Saalbau Frankfurt-Griesheim, Schwarzerlenweg 57, from 11 a.m. to a care center.

There will also be more information on this soon on the Frankfurt Fire Department's website.
