Sweden's municipalities stop a large part of the wind power plans today.

Nationally, 78 percent are stopped and in Norrbotten County, half of all wind power plans are stopped.

At the same time, the industry is announcing carbon-neutral investments, such as H2 Green Steel in Boden and Hybrit in Gällivare.

Large investments that require huge amounts of electricity - and preferably wind power according to the mining giant LKAB.

Increase acceptance of wind power

The wind power's industry organization, Swedish Wind Energy, has long insisted that the property tax should go to the municipalities.

It would be a way to increase the "social acceptance" of wind power.

Recently, the Minister of Climate and Environment Annika Strandhäll (S) announced that the government will appoint a rapid inquiry into the issue.

Several parties have raised the issue of compensation to the local community in various forms.

This is what Rickard Nordin (C), spokesperson for climate and energy issues, says:

- We think that the entire property tax would end up locally.

And this applies not only to wind power but also to hydropower and other energy supplies.

Wants to compete for wind farms

Nordin wants wind power to be made more attractive and profitable.

- I want to see a situation where wind power is something you welcome and even compete for.

A similar situation has arisen with battery factories, he says.
