On March 21, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Foreign Minister Qureshi of Pakistan in Islamabad.

  Qureshi said that Pakistan-China relations are at the best period in history. Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to China not long ago was very successful, and leaders of the two countries reached a lot of important consensus.

Pakistan-China friendship is the cornerstone of Pakistan's diplomacy. The two countries are all-weather strategic partners. They have always stood together through thick and thin, helping each other and supporting each other, standing firmly together at critical moments.

The Pakistani side is willing to work with the Chinese side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, expand practical cooperation in agriculture, economy, trade, finance, information technology and other fields, and expect China to increase investment in Pakistan and help Pakistan's industrialization process.

  Wang Yi said that the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership is unique and time-tested, and we have become good neighbors, good friends, good partners and good brothers who trust each other.

The traditional friendship between China and Pakistan is unbreakable and rock-solid, and it is a precious treasure that both sides should cherish together.

The Chinese side hopes that Pakistan will be more deeply involved in China's new development pattern and more closely integrate each other's interests, and is willing to work with the Pakistani side to deeply align development strategies, carry out systematic exchanges on state governance and administration, and improve long-term cooperation plans.

The Chinese side is willing to expand imports to Pakistan, support Chinese-funded enterprises to invest in Pakistan, and help Pakistan improve its independent development capabilities and form a more complete hematopoietic function.

  Qureshi welcomed Wang Yi to Pakistan to attend the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and said that the first participation of Chinese foreign ministers at the meeting is of historic significance. It not only supports Pakistan, but also reflects the importance China attaches to Islamic countries.

As a founding member state, Pakistan is willing to continue to promote the deepening of friendly relations between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and China.

Wang Yi congratulated Pakistan on hosting the OIC Foreign Ministers' Meeting, saying that it highlights Pakistan's role as a bridge between the Islamic world and Eastern civilization.

The Chinese Foreign Minister was invited to attend, which reflects the high level of China's exchanges with the Islamic world and the great importance it attaches to strengthening relations with Islamic countries.

Under the current circumstances, it is crucial for Islamic countries to strengthen unity and coordination, and China is willing to play a constructive role in this regard.

  The two sides spoke highly of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor's help in Pakistan's economic growth and transformation to a geo-economy. Sustainable and high-quality development has made the corridor an important engine for Pakistan's economic development.

At the same time, more "small but beautiful" livelihood projects will be carried out, so that more Pakistani people can feel the benefits of China-Pakistan friendship.

  The two sides agreed to strengthen security and anti-terrorism cooperation, resolutely crack down on terrorist organizations such as the "East Turkistan Islamic Movement", and jointly respond to the resurgence of terrorism.

Taking the handling of the Dasu terrorist attack as an opportunity, new full-process security measures and an upgraded security cooperation mechanism were formed.

Qureshi said that ensuring the safety of Chinese projects and personnel in Pakistan is Pakistan's top priority. The Pakistani side will bring the criminals of the Dasu terrorist attack to justice and effectively prevent similar incidents from happening again.

  The two sides agreed to continue to strengthen multilateral coordination, support and cooperate with each other on major international issues, build consensus on international development, safeguard the common interests of developing countries, safeguard the basic norms of international relations, and safeguard international fairness and justice.

  The two sides highly affirmed the importance of the coordination and cooperation mechanism for Afghanistan's neighbors, and will be committed to promoting the mechanism to form more consensus and results.

  The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine issue. Both expressed concerns about the spillover effects of unilateral sanctions. Both agreed that international law and the purposes of the UN Charter should be upheld. Both called for a ceasefire and a cease-fire through diplomatic dialogue. The solution to the root cause of the Ukraine problem and the creation of a balanced, effective and sustainable European security architecture.

  After the talks, the two sides attended the signing ceremony of cooperation documents in the fields of agriculture, education, science and technology and jointly met the press.
