An 18-year-old student has been arrested after the attack on Malmö Latin School.

He is suspected of having murdered two female teachers in their 50s.

The motive behind the act is still unknown, and it is unclear what relationship he must have had with the killed teachers.

The suspect himself must have alerted 112 after the act, said that he murdered and remained at the school, according to information to SVT.

According to Aftonbladet, he also said that he laid down his weapons.

The police have confirmed that they have seized the shelter, but do not want to go into what.

The 18-year-old is not known to the police since before, but there is an opinion within the police that the act was planned, according to sources to SVT.

It is assumed that he acted alone.

- Now a great deal of work awaits to be able to understand what happened and the underlying motive for this terrible event, says Åsa Nilsson, head of the local police area Malmö north.

"Never been an aggressive person"

The 18-year-old attends an aesthetic program at the centrally located upper secondary school.

He is also interested in strength training, martial arts and has trained at a karate club.

Pictures that he himself posted on his social media draw a picture of a creative, young person who draws and spends a lot of time in the gym.

A peer who has known him for several years describes him as a calm, social guy.

- He has never been an aggressive person.

A person who knew the suspect during primary school says that the suspect did not show any violent tendencies.

But he had a hard time making friends, was interested in karate, tanks and drawing.

The person, who does not want us to publish his name, says that the 18-year-old did not seem to feel well but that he otherwise showed respect for both students and teachers.

- I am completely shocked, I did not think this at all, he says.

Staff at Malmö Latin School have on several occasions warned about the situation around the 18-year-old, according to information to Kvällsposten.

Among other things, he is said to have talked about weapons and asked where at school there were surveillance cameras.

As recently as just a few hours before the act, the staff must have sounded the alarm once more.
