The police in Kronoberg are currently training new employees to be able to staff the extended opening hours.

The first holidays are already released and can be booked via the police website.

This will not solve the crisis, but will in any case provide between 200 and 300 new pass times in Växjö during the weeks when it is open all weekend.

- The weekends we have staff and resources we can keep open, says Rickard Bowin, who is reception manager at the police in Växjö.

Rickard Bowin emphasizes, however, that everyone must continue to book their time via the police website.

So you can not just pop into the police station on the weekend and get a passport.

Takes time to hire

In the future, the hope is to be able to stay open every weekend.

They are also looking at the possibilities of extending the opening hours on weekdays and perhaps changing summer schedules.

For this to be possible, however, you need to hire and train even more staff, something that does not happen in a jiffy according to Rickard Bowin.

- Before I can hire someone, security tests must be done, and then the training takes about two weeks.

So after a job interview, it takes quite a long time before that person can be hired and start working.

How do you know when new times are being released?

- I can not tell you exactly when we release times, then the system would crash off the load.

My advice is to be in and update often, says Rickard Bowin.

- I also appeal to everyone, if you do not need your time, cancel.

If you get more than one time, cancel the other, it is so unnecessary that times are burning inside right now.
