People under the age of 18 are not offered dose 3 - can ask for it when traveling: "Gets tricky"

Some countries require a certain number of doses and how old the last dose may be.

Different countries have different requirements but it may be that the latest dose should be taken within 180 or 270 days.

- There are many who have expressed that they have difficulty traveling and then there are some young people who are worried that it has been a long time since their last dose, says Ronny Lestander, vaccine coordinator.

The Västerbotten region follows the directives of the Public Health Authorities and therefore does not offer people under the age of 18 a dose 3.

- Right now there is no plan to offer a third dose to that age group.

But that may change.

They do not get seriously ill and they have some protection from their previous vaccine, says Ronny Lestander.

However, the vaccine coordinator thinks that it may be an idea to review this and will raise the issue with the Swedish Public Health Agency.

- Maybe we should be flexible to offer it.

I imagine it would not be a huge burden to offer them a third dose.
