China News Service, March 22. According to the WeChat public account of the Chinese Embassy in Papua New Guinea, the Papua New Guinea government recently announced that it will adjust some of the new crown pneumonia epidemic prevention and control measures, effective from March 21.

The new measures cancel the effective time limit for complete vaccination of the new crown vaccine within 6 months and the requirement for a booster shot if overdue, and include passengers entering by boat into the prevention and control measures. The only difference is that nucleic acid testing is not required within 72 hours before boarding.

At present, the prevention and control measures for international tourists entering Papua New Guinea mainly include:

  1. Passengers entering PNG must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, except for PNG citizens and passengers under the age of 18.

The types of vaccines approved by PNG include Sinopharm, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Modena, Johnson & Johnson, etc.

  2. Passengers entering PNG must present the following documents at check-in: 1. A negative nucleic acid test (PCR) certificate within 72 hours before boarding.

2. Electronic health code (enter https://www.pnghdf.info website to fill in).

3. Proof of vaccination.

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from testing.

  3. Inbound passengers are required to undergo a rapid test at the airport upon arrival, and the resulting rapid test (K350 Kina) and other expenses shall be borne by themselves.

If the result is positive, nucleic acid testing is required.

Those with positive nucleic acid test results must be isolated and treated in accordance with relevant regulations.

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from testing.

  4. Those who have had a positive nucleic acid test experience within 3 months before entering PNG must provide a non-infectious certificate issued by a qualified medical institution in the place of origin.
