According to Shandong High Law's WeChat public account, on the morning of the 22nd, the Intermediate People's Court of Heze City, Shandong Province publicly sentenced the former Secretary of the Party Group, the first deputy director of the Weihai Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee, and the first instance through a remote video system. The case of Liu Maode, former secretary of the Municipal Political and Legal Committee, took bribes.

Defendant Liu Maode was sentenced to 12 years in prison for accepting bribes and a fine of RMB 2 million; the illicit money, stolen goods and fruits in the case were sealed up and detained and disposed of according to law and turned over to the state treasury.

　　After the trial, it was found that: from 1998 to 2021, the defendant Liu Maode used to serve as the secretary and director of the Party Committee of the Weihai Municipal Construction Committee, the secretary of the Construction Work Committee of the Weihai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Weihai Municipal People's Government, the deputy mayor, and a member of the Standing Committee of the Weihai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of the Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Group of the Standing Committee of the Weihai Municipal People's Congress, and the First Deputy Director, seeking benefits for relevant units or individuals in project contracting, planning approval, etc., illegally accepting property from others, the total equivalent of RMB 21,056,381, of which 3,807,877 was an attempt.

　　The Intermediate People's Court of Heze City held that the behavior of the defendant Liu Maode constituted the crime of accepting bribes according to law, and the amount was particularly huge, and should be punished according to law.

Part of Liu Maode’s crime of accepting bribes was an attempted bribery. After arriving at the case, he truthfully confessed the facts of taking bribes that the investigative authorities had grasped, and voluntarily confessed most of the facts of the same crime that the investigative authorities had not grasped. Promos pleaded guilty and accepted punishment voluntarily, and could be given a lenient punishment according to law.

Taking into account Liu Maode's criminal facts, nature, circumstances and the degree of harm to society, the court made the above judgment.
