The municipal board recommends the alternative Tunnel Norra in combination with the corridor south of Malmslätt.

It is believed that these corridors work best together with the municipality's goals and development.

- We prefer to see a tunnel, because it benefits Linköping's development best.

But it is based on the fact that it is the Swedish Transport Administration's main alternative and they thus bear the costs.

Our assessment is that it is not likely and then it is not possible for us, says Niklas Borg (M), chairman of the municipal board in a press release.

However, the Municipal Board shares the Swedish Transport Administration's assessment of which of the centrally located alternatives would be best, namely Steninge.

- A centrally located travel center where you can easily get on to your destination is the only acceptable location.

We also want it to be a common station for Södra stambanan and Ostlänken.

Laying a travel center in Steninge provides the best development opportunities for Linköping, says Niklas Borg.

A decision on the consultation response to the Swedish Transport Administration must be made by the City Council on 29 March and the response must be received by the Swedish Transport Administration no later than 31 March.

At the end of April, the Swedish Transport Administration is expected to make a decision on which corridor Ostlänken will go through Linköping.
