On March 22, Kenneth Day is celebrated around Sweden, including in Gothenburg, where the local association Framsidan held its annual meeting.

But in addition to celebrating with beautiful singing and the appointment of this year's Kenneth, there is also a growing cloud of unrest: not many newborns get the name Kenneth.

- It is clear that there is a risk that the number of members will decrease, says Kenneth Alvén.

According to Statistics Sweden, just over 26,000 men today are named Kenneth by first name, but just under half have it as a given name.

The average age is just over 61 years.

The club soon 30 years

The association Swedish Kenneth Club was started in 1993 by a couple of Kenneths in Sundsvall.

Initially, Kenneth Day was celebrated on April 29, but when the almanac had to be adjusted in 2001, the club also had to change its annual meeting and celebration to March 22 every year.

The purpose of the club is to take care of Kenneth's well-being.

And to have fun together.

- We bask, have beer tastings and eat good food, says Kenneth Alvén.
