The young Ugandan environmental activist Vanessa Nakate, 25, is campaigning against a Total oil project in a natural park in her country.

On France 24, she calls for the support of the French government.

In November 2021, she made the cover of the famous American weekly Time magazine.

"One of the rather horrible realities of this climate crisis is that those who are most impacted are the least responsible" asserts the activist, recalling that the African continent represents less than 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions (GHG ) worldwide, while it is the most affected by the effects of global warming.

Vanessa Nakate regrets that despite the extraction of resources - particularly oil in southern Africa - supposed to participate in the economic development of the regions, poverty remains strong.

"The profits are repatriated to the countries of origin of the projects while the pollution remains," she laments.
