The trial of a 63-year-old man opened on Monday before the Assize Court of Hauts-de-Seine.

Originally from Sri Lanka, the accused is a domestic worker who worked in Neuilly-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine) and Paris.

He will have to answer for the administration of harmful substances having caused death without the intention of giving it, reports

The man allegedly administered medication to several of his employers.

A woman would have died, discovered drowned in the bathtub in April 2010. A toxicological analysis had revealed the presence of a sleeping pill that the victim did not consume.

The sexagenarian is suspected of six other poisonings.

After 2015, the widowed employer's new companion began to suffer from malaise, as well as loss of memory and consciousness when she visited him.

While rummaging through the accused's bag, the couple discovered several drugs and then filed a complaint.

The defendant, who did not clearly recognize the facts, faces up to 15 years in prison.
