The police have warned against the dissemination of a "fake video" on the Internet, which is about an alleged crime by Ukrainians in North Rhine-Westphalia.
"A video is currently being circulated on the Internet, in which a report is given of an attack on a 16-year-old youth in the Euskirchen area.
He was allegedly beaten to death by a group of Ukrainians," Bonn police said on Twitter on Sunday evening.
It continues: "The experts are currently assuming that this is an intentional 'fake video' intended to stir up hatred.
We ask that this video not be distributed further (...)"
A woman can be seen in the clip.
She reports in Russian that she heard from a friend about the alleged incident at Euskirchen train station.
"The Bonn police, who are responsible for capital crimes in the Euskirchen area, have no information about such a violent attack or even a death," the police said.
"The state protection of the Bonn police has started the investigation."
