How to repopulate mathematics classes in high school, after the 2019 baccalaureate reform which makes the subject an option?

The experts have published a report in which they recommend the return of the subject in the common core for all students and an increase in the number of teaching hours.

The experts are convinced of this: more mathematics is needed in the common core in high school, which is the set of subjects that all students must take, regardless of their chosen specialty.

Since the baccalaureate reform of 2019, mathematics is now optional from the first class.

How to achieve it?

Experts advise increasing the hours of the course, called "Scientific Teachings", in first class.

This course would go from two hours to 3h30 per week, with a surplus of hours devoted solely to math.

A reform that would come into force in September, but on one condition

The only problem?

Candidates for the mathematics teacher competitions are missing and registrations for the CAPES are already closed for the next school year.

Classes would therefore be provided from September, overtime, by teachers already in place.

A scenario that will become reality in the event that Emmanuel Macron is re-elected in the second round of the presidential election on April 24.
