In total, the Swedish municipalities issued parking fines of approximately SEK 1.2 billion last year.
- It is large public income, says Boel Flodgren, professor at the Department of Commercial Law at Lund University, to the news agency Siren, which compiled statistics from the Swedish Transport Agency.
In about 40 municipalities in the country, no parking remarks were issued in 2021. Skinnskatteberg and Surahammar belong to them.
- The municipalities may not charge parking fees if it is not required to arrange the traffic, says Boel Flodgren, who believes that the entire parking system should be reviewed.
