Andreas Hasse is optimistic.

The first chairman of the rowing society Wiesbaden-Biebrich 1888 assumes that the club's competitive athletes will be able to practice their sport undisturbed in Schiersteiner Hafen after the Easter holidays.

Then there will be a temporary hall where the rowers' boats will be housed.

Such an interim solution is necessary because the dilapidated boathouse was surprisingly closed to both club rowers and school sports in December last year.

The Wiesbadener Stadtentwicklungsgesellschaft (SEG) has taken on the planning of a new building, because the boathouse is a municipal facility for school sports, which is used in cooperation with the club.

In two years, so the responsible project manager of the urban development company was able to hear on Friday,

On Monday, the rowers will meet again with representatives of the urban development company, the school board and the city to talk about progress at the port.

"I'm assuming that we'll hear on Monday when the tent will be set up," said Hasse, adding that the regional council had already approved the new location at Westhafen on the open meadow next to the Wiesbaden 1911 swimming club.

Such an exemption is necessary because the location is in a water protection area.

"I actually expect that the provisional will be available after the Easter holidays," Hasse clarified.

According to him, two providers have already submitted an offer for such tents.

need for more space

"We notice that the project managers at SEG care and are in a constructive dialogue with them," said Hasse, describing the cooperation with the municipal company, which, in addition to erecting the temporary solution, also took on the planning for the new construction of a permanent boathouse.

“The SEG gave us the first room sketches that correspond to our professional ideas.

These sketches should now lead to a tendering process,” Hasse continued on the subject of the new building.

100,000 euros were made available to the SEG for planning the new boathouse, as Moritz Röder, advisor to Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende (SPD), explained to the members of the sports committee on Thursday evening.

Röder also informed the politicians that the provisional solution should come this spring, but did not give a specific date.

Also at the SEG there was no definite promise on Friday that the tent would be up after the Easter holidays.

"We're working flat out," said the project manager.

According to the SEG, the transition hall is a so-called storage tent, which is similar to a lightweight hall.

In addition, the site is to be fenced in to protect the boats and the tent.

The new building is to be built again as a floating boathouse in the same place in the harbor.

So far, around 60 boats have been accommodated in the floating building.

According to the SEG project manager, the future boathouse should by no means be smaller, because the need for more space has already been announced.

However, it is still completely unclear what the costs for the new boathouse will be.

According to the project manager, no information can be given about this at the moment.

The costs for the provisional are still open.

However, its funding is secured.

The school board of the rowing society had assured this, said Hasse in turn.

"I have the impression that we are being heard, and I have the impression that qualified people care," said the chairman with conviction and also wanted to communicate this to the around 360 members of the rowing society during the association's annual general meeting on Friday evening.

"We could resume school rowing and our sports activities, and then we'll be satisfied," he said, looking forward to the time after the Easter holidays.
