President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol, who promised to relocate the Oval Office to Gwanghwamun to reform the Blue House, a symbol of the imperial presidential system, finally announced that he would go to the Yongsan Ministry of National Defense building in Seoul, not Gwanghwamun.

[Yoon Seok-yeol/President-elect: It is difficult, but it is a decision made for the future of the country.

I ask that you consider my will to fulfill my promise to the people.] When I

go to the Gwanghwamun government building, the inconvenience of citizens increases due to security measures such as blocking radio waves or prohibiting gatherings around the office, and there is no command and control facility. He explained the reason for the trip to Yongsan, saying that it is difficult to fully open the Blue House because there is no other choice but to continue using it.

[Yoon Seok-yeol/President-elect: (Ministry of Defense

) is well equipped with national security command facilities, and can return the Blue House perfectly to citizens, and there is little inconvenience to citizens accompanying security measures.]

The building will be shared and moved to the Joint Chiefs of Staff building next door.

The building was originally built for use with the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command, but the CFC decided to go to Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do, so there was space left and the relocation cost was low.

In addition, the Joint Chiefs of Staff decided to move to Gwanak-gu, Seoul, where the Capital Defense Command is located within one to two years.

He said that the office construction would begin immediately in consultation with the current government.

After the inauguration ceremony on May 10th, President-elect Yoon promised to start working in the new office and open the current Blue House site to the public from May 10th.

The presidential residence was decided to be used for the time being by improving the residence of the Chief of Staff of the Army located in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu.
