The UAE has sent a plane carrying 30 tons of food to Mekele, Tigray region in Ethiopia, as part of the humanitarian bridge and supplies for the Tigrayan people, which will benefit more than 7,000 people, including 5,600 women and children, in the context of meeting the growing needs of families, especially from women and children because of the current situation.

Mohammed Salem Al Rashidi, UAE Ambassador to Ethiopia, said: "The UAE is keen to support the humanitarian situation in the Tigray region, and to meet the needs of the population in light of the food shortage," noting that these supplies come in compliance with the UAE's humanitarian approach, which does not hesitate to provide relief. emergency services to countries and peoples that need it.

He added, "The UAE has consolidated its global position in providing support and humanitarian aid, and is a forerunner in extending a helping hand, and it does not hesitate to provide emergency relief to countries and peoples that need it.

These supplies come within the framework of its ceaseless efforts to provide the basic needs of the population, and within the values ​​of human brotherhood pursued by the state, which puts the human being on its list of priorities without discrimination and without any considerations.

It is worth noting that the UAE has sent 8 planes carrying 337 tons of relief and food items to benefit more than 80,000 people, including 63,000 women and children. Tigray last year, in addition to sending 18.5 tons of medical supplies as part of the global effort to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.
