On March 17, local time, NASA's next-generation lunar rocket took a much-anticipated "slow-motion tour": from the assembly plant to the launch pad in Florida.

It will undergo a final round of tests in the coming weeks, which will determine how quickly it can fly the Artemis 1 mission.

The Space Launch System (SLS) rocket is 32 stories tall and weighs 5.75 million pounds (2,608 tons), topped by the Orion crew capsule.

Its delivery marks a key milestone in the U.S. restart of its plan to explore the moon after years of setbacks, and the first public glimpse of the spacecraft, which has been in development for more than a decade.

Taller than the Statue of Liberty, the Space Launch System was slowly transported to Launch Pad 39B by a giant crawler transport vehicle.

The 4-mile (6.4 kilometers) journey takes about 11 hours.
