It was in the autumn of 2018 that Josefina, 33 years old, sought care.
She had felt a lump in one breast a couple of weeks earlier and was worried that it could be breast cancer, this as the disease is in the family.
But after an examination, the doctor gave Josefina a reassuring message.
Because Josefina was sore at the chest, the doctor said that it was probably a muscle inflammation.
Josefina was sent home with painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs.
- I remember that I was very scared before the visit and the message made me calm of course, says Josefina.
Seeked care again
In the spring of 2020, Josefina felt the lump again and sought care again.
And this time the message was different: Josefina had aggressive breast cancer and the lump she had known before had now become a 4.5 centimeter tumor.
She was diagnosed two days after giving birth to her second child.
- It was terrible.
It was sick leave instead of parental leave, says Josefina.
Gets right by Ivo
Josefina reported the incident to Ivo and has now, after some time of deliberation, been right.
Ivo believes that the doctor should take Josefina's concerns seriously and that she should be referred for mammography.
- It is an incredible relief, there have been some tears of happiness, says Josefina.
The doctor has in a statement to Ivo regretted the incident.
Josefina says that she is feeling well today and that she is cancer-free.
- I've been lucky in the bad luck in all this.
For me, it has been important to fight for no one else to be treated as I was treated, says Josefina.
