For the first time, the number of "regional revitalization cooperation teams" who have moved to rural areas and are working to revitalize them has exceeded 6,000.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications says that the background may be the growing interest in rural migration due to the Corona disaster.

The "Regional Revitalization Cooperation Corps" was established about 10 years ago, moving from urban areas to rural areas and working on regional revitalization for about 1 to 3 years.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the number of "members" participating in this initiative is on the rise, and this year, the number increased by 455 from the previous year to 6015, exceeding 6000 for the first time.

The number of local governments accepted was 1085, which is 20 more than the previous year, the highest number ever. By prefecture, Hokkaido had the largest number of 821, followed by Nagano with 428 and Kochi with 255.

In addition, about 53% of the people who completed their activities by last year live in the same municipality, which is more than half.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has said that the background may be the growing interest in local migration due to the Corona disaster, and hopes to increase the number of "members" to 8,000 in the 6th year of Reiwa.
