About 10,000 leeks could end up crushed in Gironde rather than in salad, soup or sliced... The Loc Halle Bio cooperative warns of the fate of Xavier Ducos, a Gironde organic producer, who finds himself with a significant surplus of production that he could not flow.
“On his farm, Xavier only has agricultural help to help him with his work, which prevents him from harvesting, working and marketing all the remaining leeks, explains the cooperative in a Facebook post.
Indeed, with the downturn in the organic market and the sluggish economic situation, outlets are much lower than in past years, generating significant potential losses in the field.

Encouragement to pick
The market gardener has decided to offer anyone who wishes (families, greengrocers, processors, communities, associations, etc.) the opportunity to come to his farm, in Loupiac-de-la-Réole, an hour from Bordeaux, to harvest their own leeks against "a donation of a free amount, in a kitty that will be placed at the entrance to the site, in order to help him get a little return on his production.
His field at No. 5 Biot, 33.190 Loupiac-de-la-Réole, will be open on Saturday from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
