Von der Leyen announces the start of the "Ukraine-European Path"

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that Ukraine has begun its path to joining the European Union.

Today, Friday, von der Leyen said on her official Twitter account that she had reassured Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about the "unwavering support of the European Union" for his country.

"Ukraine's European path is now set in motion," she said. "Times like this require the vision, fortitude and fortitude necessary to take one difficult step after another, and the European Commission will move forward."

In turn, Zelensky confirmed on Twitter that the European Union will prepare its opinion on Ukraine's application to join it within a few months, adding: "We are moving forward towards our strategic goal together."

This comes against the background of Russia's continued military operation in Ukraine.
