The verdict was announced by Haparanda District Court in a third-party verdict that went completely along Kiruna municipality's line.

A tripartite ruling means that the other party did not show up at the negotiations.

The court now places the responsibility for the Tarfalahallen collapsing completely on March 8, 2020 on the construction company SA Englund.

Kiruna's municipal councilor, Gunnar Selberg (C), says he is relieved but not surprised.

- There is always a risk that you may end up in a compromise.

But we did not manage to reach an agreement in the negotiations and had to go to court, he says.

Plans to replace the hall are taking shape

For Kiruna municipality, the planning for how to rebuild the hall is intensified.

An alternative is to build a new hall on the same site.

Another is to build in Lombia sports ground with a full-size football pitch and space for athletics and climbing.

The latter option would also include an artificial turf at Matojärvi IP.

- We have received a presentation for such a solution.

We will screw up the proposal a bit and hand it over to the project department so that we can go out to procure and get a concrete cost, says Gunnar Selberg.

SVT is looking for representatives of SA Englund for a comment.
