The new PP wants to be "more flexible" in negotiating the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), but "will maintain the same principles and approaches."

That is to say, it will try to reach an agreement with the PSOE, but on the basis that the judges must be chosen among themselves, and not be appointed by political parties on which they must then make decisions.

"Everything that has to do with strengthening the independence of the powers, and in this case of the Judiciary, is not an option, but an obligation," Cuca Gamarra assured on RNE this Friday.

The general coordinator of the PP has stressed that, with Alberto Núñez Feijóo at the helm, the PP will continue trying "to be able to reach an agreement" for the renewal of the governing body of the judges.

It will be from April 2 - the day on which the national congress of the

in Seville closes - when "the new leadership has the responsibility of considering how we are going to face this new stage."

But he has stressed that "it is clear" that despite the "change of direction", the idea-force of its formation does not change, because it is delimited in the electoral programs of the PP and in its statutes.

For the also parliamentary spokesperson for the PP, it is the PSOE that "until now has refused to advance in greater independence of the Judiciary" and that is deepening the "erosion of a democratic principle such as the separation of powers and the independence among themselves.

"The PSOE and the Government have a lot to change to advance in more democracy and better democratic quality", she has settled.

"The PP is very clear that we must continue advancing in that independence of the Judiciary and not only because we created it, but because the European institutions demand it and, therefore, what the demands of the European institutions are and also our position does not It is going to change because it is part of our principles", and Feijóo shares them, he explained.

Fewer votes than endorsements

Precisely Feijóo has learned this Friday that he will have fewer votes than endorsements in the primary process prior to the congress that will elevate him as party leader.

The PP has reported that 41,681 members have registered to participate in the primaries of the Popular Party and vote for the candidate.

In other words, even if everyone voted for the single candidate, he would still have 14,000 fewer supports than he got in the presentation of endorsements.

Feijóo validated his candidacy with more than 55,000 signatures of affiliates up to date with their payments.

Next Monday the 21st, the polls will be opened to vote for both Feijóo and the delegates who will then be in charge of endorsing him as national president of the party.

"Despite the fact that, with a single candidacy, the vote for the presidency of the party would not have been necessary, Feijóo asked the Organizing Committee of the Congress to hold the vote for the candidate," they underline from the PP.

"The affiliates have backed this decision with great support for his candidacy. This election will result in a president with the strongest mandate that the Popular Party has ever had," the
