Bloomberg: Washington and its allies are communicating with Russia to avoid being drawn into a war

Bloomberg Agency reported on Friday that Washington and its allies have established a direct line of communication with Moscow in order to avoid being drawn into a war that may result from a misunderstanding over the fighting on the Ukrainian border.

The agency said that "military leaders from NATO countries are communicating by phone with their Russian counterparts to ensure that the United States and its allies are not drawn into a war because of a misunderstanding on the Ukrainian border."

A senior European diplomat explained to the agency that "the talks between the military leaders of the two sides are not easy," noting that "the officials exchange information about troop movements and other plans."

The agency quoted NATO officials as saying that "the Russian armed forces did not try to provoke or engage the forces of the alliance countries."
